The Olympiads: a perfect team-building activity for a mountain corporate event

Did you know that the Alps hosted the very first Winter Olympics in 1924 in Chamonix, and then again in Albertville in 1992? Proud of our legacy as a land of Games, we wanted to pay tribute with our own 1786-made Olympiads! This quirky and original activity is packed with surprises, each more fun than the last! As a team, challenge your colleagues with accessible sports challenges to try and win the gold medal!



At 1786, we have our own take on what Olympic events should look like... For example, not far from the real biathlon, we offer a laser biathlon relay (without skis and at much more reasonable target distances!). Additionally, with a local twist, aim as accurately as possible using a shepherd’s sling, more commonly known as a slingshot (which sounds less Savoyard). Naturally, you can’t have Olympiads without roped obstacle courses, orienteering races, or strength challenges. As you can see, we’ve reserved the best of our activities, the cream of the crop!



In winter, in addition to other challenges, discover the future disciplines of the 2030 Winter Olympics, which the Alps will have the pleasure of hosting once again: frosty sliding (a kind of human curling) and igloo building! Yes, these will be among the official events you might see on TV, we promise! While the latter information might not be certain, what is guaranteed is that laughter and team cohesion will be part of this unforgettable team-building day in the Alps!

The flow of your team building in Annecy

Our facilitators—official judges of these Olympics—will welcome you to the activity location at the agreed time. They will explain the details of your challenge and the stakes (our awards are better than a gold medal with a piece of the Eiffel Tower embedded in it... yes, really, we promise). Next, they will announce the teams, which are usually formed randomly by us in advance. You can also organize this yourself to mix up the departments effectively.



The groups will then be sent to their first challenge, where they will compete against other colleagues. After the “official judge” has explained the rules, it's time to win the game! The facilitator will record the name of the winner and then assign you to a new challenge. For nearly two and a half hours, competitors will experience each activity, facing off against each opposing team and trying to win as many rounds as possible.



At the end of the challenge, you'll gather with your colleagues for a light snack while the referees tally up the points. They will then join you to announce the grand champion of these Alpine Olympiads! Before you leave, don't forget to take a group photo to remember this wonderful day of team cohesion in a dream natural setting!

Very nice experience! A beautiful hike, although a bit short considering the bus travel time to reach the Plateau du Revard. The team enjoyed not only the hike but also the sweet and savory snack on the terrace of the mountain restaurant facing Mont Blanc.
